New...........................................................................................................RATZINGER ATTACK EUROPE

SINCE AUGUST 1 ST OF 2007 CHILEAN BAND RATZINGER WERE TOURING IN EUROPE , PLAYING IN CITIES AS BERLIN, HAMBURG, KATOWICE, WROCLAW, LEAVING THAT IN CHILE, ROCK’S VERY STRONG!!!

In March of this year, Chilean band Ratzinger was finishing their debut album, and the question was:  what happens then for promoting it?.

The answer was simple….  Why don´t we go to play to Europe ?

So they made their bags and flight there with the help of friends they’ve got there, as Claudio Tomate from the band Undercrof two support them, in the show in Hamburg, as other friends that made that this tour was easier than we expected.

In this moments, Ratzinger is back in Chile and they are in the process of masterisation of a live album taking the best of what they perform in Headbangers Ballroom in Hamburg Germany, and in Madness club in Wroclaw, Poland .

Ratzinger a band that’s getting notice for musical versatility to the talented musicians that helped in this record such as Lucas Yaksic (L.Y.B.) Gabriel Hidalgo (Six Magics), Javier Bassino (Fahrenheit) , Manolo Sánchez (Slavery) , among others.

Tell us how was the feeling with the audiences in the places that you perform?

Ivan: I guess that in some ways it was unexpected for us, because it’s said that European audiences Germans in our place are colder than ours, but in our first show in Berlin. The audience started moving around in the moment that we start performing, i think that if they’re liking what you’re playing they’re not stopping banging around, so we felt very comfortable and made a hell of a show.

Which was the best show of this tour and how do you feel about this experience?

Ivan: The show we did in Katowice was amazing, it wasn’t a place like you used to play cause it was like a maze , and the people their is more like us, the economy is not like Germany or the northern countries, so it was very special culturally speaking.

Sebastian: The best of all was at the end of the show the people started asking for more an we already had played all our set lis of 1 hour 20 minutes , so we played a song that we made recently for our second album and it was the one that sounded best of our new material, and then for making a good last song we made a cover from La Bamba that was really cool, the crowd had a very good time and after words we played, we stayed at the club and lots of people came to talk to us , so we felt very good and knew a lot of people we really spend a good time.

Beside of playing, i was told you spend some time looking for historical places.

Andres: Yeah , we had the chance of going to Austwichz. The nazi concentration camp, a place with a very strange energies very hard to describe in words, we went to places like Reichstag, the holocaust Denkmal (monument to the Jews that died in world war II) Some Nazi bunkers, Branderburg Tor and the wall of Berlin.

For last , what’s Ratzinger up to right now?

Ivan: We’re gathering the best songs of the shows we did live in Europe for making a Live album to be released  at the end of the year. Also we want to play some shows in the best clubs of Chile for promotion of the album So we can sell as much as we can.

New................................................................................................................................................Biography

Ratzinger was formed in 2005 as a project of the vocalist and guitarist of the band Ivan Vega, (ex Hades_Inc, Paroxismo, Aggressive State of Mind) after he lived in Stockholm and played music around Europe. Due to work reasons he came back to Chile.

Already living and back in Chile, he contacted David Sierra, bass player of a Sepultura tribute band. After listening to the material Ivan had brought with him ( all material he had composed with some European friends: Jimmy Lundberg, from the Swedish band “Abused” and Coke de Huinca, while he was living in Stockholm), David decides to join the band, collaborating with his insane ideas.

Later, and after auditioning some guitarists and drummers, Ivan meets Osvaldo “Lagarto” and Matías Geralde, with whom he names the project as: Rotten Kat, this is the name it would have during three months, time in which these members also decide to leave the band, leaving Ivan and David in search of new members.

Months later, and after composing just string material, a young drummer from an unknown band joined them. Wanting to start playing live, is that they accepted this new member.

Ivan, due to a news sent from his girlfriend, in which a German newspaper said the new postulates of the chosen Pope were: “I will fight against the bad influence of rock music”, that was the exact moment in which they decided to change the bands name and call it Ratzinger ( an ironic act against the new Catholic Pope.)

On the summer of 2006, Ratzinger started recording three tracks at “Insomnio Rec” studios, the three songs were: “Set Me Free”, “Weapon of Mass Destruction” and “Man Dominus Factor”. By this time they fired the drummer because of some internal issues with members of the band and because he was also delaying the recording of the record.

Due to this issue, a known local producer, made the contacts between the band and Patricio Quiroga, who demonstrated interest in Ratzinger’s music and compositions, telling them about his unlucky results in the search for serious musicians. After some rehearsals in which an awesome chemistry is shown, he is hired as the new engine of the band. Two more tracks are born with these members “Evolution Disaster” and “Boycott”.

Later, Ratzinger would suffer a serious fall. Ivan’s “right hand fellow”, and bass player of the band, would leave the band, saying he had some personal issues that would make it impossible for him to continue in the band.

This left a big empty in the band, and makes it impossible to keep on recording their first album. (David only recorded six tracks.)
After this, Ivan and Patricio began searching for a new bass player. The responsibility fell in a close friend of the band and owner of “Insomnio Rec” studios, Sebastian Chupe Camposano.

The band’s first EP had been recorded at “Insomnio Rec” studios and he already knew the bands work.
Reborn as a three piece band, Ratzinger ends the recording of their debut album “State Enemy”, which was produced by Ivan Vega at 15HZSONIDO studios with the help of ingeneer Cristian Rodríguez.

Preparing the launch of this first album, also as videos, photo sessions, and others, Patricio Quiroga is fired and Andres Serey becomes his substitute. The latter demonstrated, after some auditioning that he was the one for the position.

Even though the changing Lineup, Ratzinger has played in different cities and places like for example (56 shows): Hamburgo, Berlin, Wroclaw, Katowice, Mendoza, Concepción, Rancagua, Malloco, Temuco, Coquimbo, Valparaíso, Arauco, Calbuco y Santiago de Chile, receiving great comments.

They have also shared stage with bands like: Under Falling Leaves (DE), Tonus (DE), Tiefschlag (DE), Lord of Twilight (PL), Oconnor (AR), Saiko (AR), Cinical (AR), Equinoxio (PA), Arcángel (AR), Vigilante, Criminal, Necrosis, Lucas Yaksic Band, Nuclear, Human Factor, Psicosis, Vigilante, Sinergia, Inquisision, Criogenia, Savannah, Dawnfall, Escualo, Slavery, Lapsus Dei, Los Mox!, Kalafate, Mortero, Dama Juana, Alto Voltaje, Silencio, Silver Jack, Diesel, Electrozombies, Disorder, Raptor, Sinergia, Horrorloves, El Cruce, Treboles, Delta, Panzer, Treboles, Rodrigo Jara, Allison, Oxido, Soul in Pain, Raining, among others.

By the time the band is in search of a national/internacional label and preparing the launch of their album, calls: "2012"
